Deputy Minister for Health visits Krugersdorp

Deuputy Minister Dr Phahlaa takes a tour to three Krugersdorp institutions.

Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Joseph Phahlaa paid a visit to three Krugersdorp government institutions on 26 April.

Phahlaa along with other officials visited Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Yusuf Dadoo hospital and Krugersdorp Central Clinic.

The aim of his visit was to learn more about the challenges the department is faced with and to decide on how he could help improve any identified challenges.

“Part of my visit here today is to listen to challenges the facilities are facing and try to come up with mitigation plans towards those challenges,” Phahlaa said.

The day started with the briefing session held in the Foyer Board Room at Sterkfontein hospital, followed by the hospital Chief Executive Officer, Jimmy Mapunya’s presentation that gave an overview of the hospital, its achievements and key challenges that affect service delivery.

“I came to this hospital for transformation. I am prepared to make changes within a short space of time,” Mapunya committed himself.

Next the crew drove to Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital where the Deputy Minister engaged positively with doctors and nurses working in the theatre and other sections.

Lastly the crew visited Krugersdorp Central Clinic where Phahlaa was impressed by facilities manager, Sr Sindi Mongae who gave them a tour of the clinic.

“We need leaders like you who are well informed about the area where they operate from,” Phahlaa concluded.
