Tuck shop robbery: Suspect caught, assaulted by community

Police have confirmed that community members caught and assaulted one of the four men allegedly involved in the September 28 robbery.

Gauteng police have confirmed that a 28-year-old suspect was arrested following a tuck shop robbery on the Muldersdrift border on September 28.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said four men entered the tuck shop and robbed the owner of his cellphone at gunpoint.

“As they left, the owner screamed for help and community members came to assist and apprehend one of the suspects and assaulted him before the police were called,” she said.

Nevhuhulwi said the suspect is under police guard at a local hospital.
