Sleepy armed suspects arrested for murder
Three suspects are still on the loose.
Two murder suspects were arrested by police and three, possibly armed, suspects are still at large, police said.
The suspects were arrested following the murder of two Rietfontein residents outside their home at around 1am on a Sunday morning.
“The two victims were seated outside around the fire enjoying their drinks,” police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.
Ngwenya added that about five armed men approached them, demanding money and cell phones.
After robbing the victims, the suspects shot and killed them and fled the scene on foot.
Ten days later, during the early hours of Tuesday (19 April) morning, police arrested the two “gun wielding, aggressive and arrogant suspects while they were fast asleep”.
The remaining three suspects are still at large. The arrested suspects appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of house robbery and murder.
The Muldersdrift police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Seabi, said that no crime will be tolerated and “the community of Muldersdrift will eventually have a peaceful sleep”.
