CCTV: Pretend parent robs nursery school
A nursery school is warning others to be vigilant because a 'pretend parent' is lurking around.
Staff members of Humpty Dumpty nursery school in Krugersdorp North wants to warn the community of a man pretending to be a parent who stole an expensive cell phone from their premises in broad daylight.
The phony father-to-be visited the nursery school to enroll his new bundle of joy, or so they were told.
On 4 May around 11am, the friendly stranger told the staff that he wanted to have a look at the premises while he waits for his pregnant wife.
Inquisitively the man walked through the school, scanning every inch.
Little did he known he was on camera the entire time.
Charmingly he even greeted a class full of children as he continued to make his way through the school, avoiding the staff in the process.
At some point the friendly stranger was captured on the camera sitting at the kitchen nook and reaching out for what looked like a cellphone.
After his first attempt failed he continued on his mission and made his way through the school again.
When the coast was clear he quickly slipped into an unoccupied classroom where he went straight to the desk, reached down, nabbed a cellphone before quickly sneaking out again.
He then said his friendly goodbye’s before hitting the road with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 worth over R10 000.
“We cannot believe the audacity of these optimistic criminals. We hope to warn other nurseries in the area to be extra vigilant at all times,” Jeanette Hill, school principle said.
It is believed that man was spotted earlier that day in Viljoen Street in a silver Toyota Tazz with three other occupants seated inside.
