One-year-old drowns in bath

The one-year-old's lifeless body laid on the floor as his mother tirelessly tried to resuscitate him.

A family of Burgershoop is torn to pieces after their one-year-old baby boy has died following an incident over the weekend.

The mother of the boy was busy with laundry on Saturday morning, 7 May, when she suddenly noticed her baby had disappeared while she hung up the washing.

She frantically started searching the house when she made a shocking discovery and found the baby floating in the bath.

The Community Policing Forum of Sector 5’s first-aid responders where called to the house at around 9.50am.

Shortly after paramedics from ER24 and Netcare 911 arrived.

The mother immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the baby after which CPF took over followed by paramedics.

Sadly the baby boy was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics just before lunch time.

It is believed the baby somehow landed up in the half full bath which the mother allegedly used to rinse the washing.
