A moment of silence for a child’s protection

Say no to child abuse by walking with your child.

A moment of silence was shared at Munsieville Primary School on International Child Protection Day last month.

Members of the Krugersdorp Police FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences) Unit along with Project Hope and the Krugersdorp Welfare celebrated Child Protection Week and International Child Protection Day at the school on 1 June.

The theme this year was Walk with your child and 404 pupils from the school participated in a art competition.

The children learned about the different types of abuse and to say no and shout for help.

They were all given educational pamphlets with the police numbers and other vital information on an easy to read hand drawing.

At precisely noon a moment of silence spoke a thousand words as they all paid their respects to the thousands of children who fall victim to child abuse.

The celebrations kicked off as four lucky pupils were announced winners in their categories of the art competition.

It was all smiles as they walked away with gift hampers containing toys and sweets.
