Murder in Kagiso hostel

An anonymous call led police to a 29-year-old murder suspect.

A 29-year-old suspect was arrested for the murder of another resident at the Boiketlo hostel in Kagiso last weekend.

Sector Police were conducting their normal duties when they received a complaint of murder at the hostel at 5.45am on Sunday.

On arrival at the scene, police found the body of a man lying on his back on a bed.

“During their investigations, police noticed that the deceased had sustained a stab wound to his chest. The paramedics were called and declared the victim dead on the scene,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

The following day, police received an anonymous call stating the suspect’s whereabouts. Police followed up on the information, which led to the arrest of the 29-year-old suspect.

He has been detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of murder has been registered.

Police are currently investigating the motive for the murder. The suspect appeared briefly appeared in court earlier this week.
