Three injured in N14 shootout

Shoot-out between police and suspects on N14 leaves three injured.

Three men were injured this morning, 7 July, after an apparent shootout on the N14 near the Petroport, north of Johannesburg.

Paramedics arriving at the scene encountered a heavy police presence. They found that three men had sustained numerous gunshot wounds, with two in a critical condition, and the third with moderate injuries.

A bakkie lay in the veld a short distance from the road, with the three men lying a few metres away.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support, before transporting all of them to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The police’s Kay Makhubela says three other people were arrested after what appears to have been a hijacking.

The exact details surrounding the shooting are not yet known but local authorities are on the scene to investigate further.
