The siblings who were arrested earlier this month in connection with conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism were released on bail yesterday.
After being in police custody for over a week, the brother (33) and sister (24) duo was released on 18 July after appearing in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court, and upon payment of R5 000 bail.

The duo’s attorney, Yousha Tayoh asked the public to respect the siblings’ privacy as they are Muslims charged with terrorism.
He further stated that the stun grenade found in the brother’s possession is the property of the local Community Policing Forum, and that the male suspect failed to return it to them, while the sister claims the 21 bullets found in her possession belong to her brother, who uses them for hunting purposes.
The case has been postponed to 20 September, when the duo will appear in court again.
