Three caught stripping a car
A tip-off from the community led police to a garage where a stolen vehicle was being stripped.
Three suspects, aged 24 to 34, were caught red-handed and arrested by the Kagiso Police after stripping a vehicle.
“Kagiso sector police, assisted by their social crime counterparts in Tshepisong Phase 5, arrested three suspects after they were caught on 20 July at 1pm,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.
The arrests follow after a member of the community notified the police of suspects who were in the process of stripping a suspected stolen vehicle.
The police reacted immediately and rushed to the address supplied. On arrival, they forced open the garage door and found the three suspects inside, busily stripping parts from a vehicle.
“The suspects failed to explain or prove the vehicle’s ownership. The police conducted further investigations which indicated that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Jabulani, Soweto the previous day.”
All three were put under arrest and were later detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was opened and registered. The suspects will appear briefly in court soon.
“The good communication between members of the community and police is yielding unbelievable results. If it were not for our loyal and law-abiding citizens, the suspects would be boasting somewhere about their activities. Our communities are indeed with us in making life difficult for criminals,” said Kagiso Police Station Commander Brigadier Sipho Ngubane.
