Complainant actually burglary suspect

The perpetrator was arrested after opening a false case of burglary.

A 28-year-old man who opened a case of burglary has been arrested after the police determined that he was in fact the perpetrator of the crime.

After some investigation, the suspect was arrested for business burglary and perjury in Silverfields.

“It is alleged that the suspect opened a case of business burglary, claiming that someone had forced the door open and stolen property from inside the business,” said Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale.

Detective Constable Maenetja was assigned to investigate the case and met with the complainant at the crime scene. During the investigation, Maenetja found the alleged stolen property in the complainant’s possession. He was arrested and will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court this week.

“Community members are warned not to open false cases. It is a crime to do so and a waste of resources”, said Krugersdorp Police station commander Brigadier Baloyi, who applauded the constable on arresting the suspect.
