Hermanus goes international
Hermanus van Staden went gold with team South Africa at the British Junior International Match.
Hermanus van Staden went international at the British Junior International shooting competition which took place in Bisley in the UK from Tuesday, 9 August to Thursday, 11 August.
The Maragon Schools’ pupil took part in and qualified in the Air Rifle Sporter 10m range and also qualified for the finals as part of the South African team. His team finished third and walked away with the bronze medal.

When Team South Africa came first, Hermanus received a gold medal for the 3P x 20 team event. The athlete went on to compete in the Sporter Air Rifle Grand Prix 10m event, finishing in third place and winning another bronze medal for South Africa.
In the end, Team South Africa scooped 12 medals, with Hermanus accounting for two bronze medals and one gold. Team South Africa were also honoured with a medal of appreciation and sportsmanship by the British hosts.
The event was a success not only for Hermanus and his team, but for air rifle shooting in South Africa as a whole.
