Cars of Krugersdorp: 1955 Morris Oxford Series 2

This week’s Golden Oldie is a 1955 Morris Oxford Series 2 belonging to Steven Jones.

Steven bought the car in 2012, after it had stood on a farm in East London for a few years. He has spent two years restoring the car. It still has working trafficators that pop out of the side of the car when making a turn.

The car is in running condition, and was used as his wedding car in May this year.

Some interesting facts about the car:

• The car has a 1 500 cc motor

• The car can travel at 118km/h

• A new Morris Oxford Series 2 cost £720 in 1955

• Only 87 000 were made world-wide
