Mob justice served to wrong men
Three men killed by a mob allegedly innocent of any wrongdoing.
Three men died in an incident of mob justice in Vlakfontein on Friday, 9 September.
The wife of one of them said she had accompanied her husband and his younger brothers who were searching for her brother-in-law’s fiancée. When they knocked at one house, the owner came out and screamed for help. This mobilised a number of community members, who attacked the three men, beating them to death.
Kagiso Police sector members responded to reports of mob justice and found the three men, covered in blood and mud, at the scene. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are appealing to members of the community to come forward with information.
“We can’t stand and watch people killing others like this. We have always warned against and condemned mob justice.
The people involved must be arrested and will face murder charges,” said theKagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Sipho Ngubane.
