15 years for house robbery

A man in his early 20s was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for house robbery.
On 11 April this year, Phillip Mothisi illegally entered a house in Marabeth, Tarlton, setting off the alarm and waking the occupant.
The complainant took his firearm and when he went to investigate he came across Mothisi who was armed with a knife.
A scuffle ensued during which Mothisi stabbed the complainant. The latter fired shots and wounded the suspect.
Tarlton Police was contacted and arrived shortly thereafter. Mothisi was taken to hospital under police guard.
Constable Letsoko Matshele of Tarlton Police was assigned to the case and tirelessly investigated all facts linked to the house robbery.
“Matshele’s intense investigation led to the successful conviction of the suspect,” Constable Lucky Matome, Tarlton Police spokesperson said.
Tarlton Police station commander, Captain Phaahla applauded Matshele, the team from the National Prosecution Authority and witnesses for securing the conviction. “Removing Mothisi from the community was a great achievement for the Tarlton Police,” Phaahla said.
