Community members discover body in public park
Upon investigating the scene Kagiso Police discovered the man's hands were bound and he had a single bullet wound to the head.
The body of a man was discovered by community members near Kagiso Regional Park on Tuesday, 27 September at about 10am.
The body had a single bullet wound and was lying close to Kagiso Extension 8. Community members contacted Kagiso Police Station and officers arrived shortly afterwards.
Upon investigating the scene police discovered the man’s hands were bound and he had a single bullet wound to the head. Police are investigating the possibility that the man could have been shot during a hijacking the night before. It is alleged he is the owner of the hijacked vehicle.
Another man was also shot during the hijacking that allegedly occurred in front of the house of one of the victims in Kagiso. It is alleged the two victims were standing outside the home talking. Two suspects passed the men and asked for a cigarette. When the victims said they did not smoke, one of the attackers allegedly drew a firearm and demanded their vehicle. One of the victims was shot. He was left bleeding on the pavement when the suspects sped off in the Polo Vivo. The vehicle was later found abandoned next to the park.
Police cornered the suspects later that day. They discovered a firearm on the scene and it was sent for ballistic tests. Intensified police investigations are continuing.
