Police make 460 arrests

During the past week, police made 460 arrests for various crimes on the West Rand.

The West Rand is becoming a safer place since police have been making a bigger effort to get criminals off the streets.

This is sending a clear message to criminals that they should beware; the West Rand police are closing in on them.

The West Rand Cluster made a total of 460 arrests during the past weekend and the previous week. One of the suspects arrested was a 38-year-old man who had shot and killed his mother after a family dispute in Randfontein. Another arrest was made by the Kagiso Reaction Team on the N14 next to Diepsloot for possession of a truck that was hijacked in Westonaria.

Suspects were arrested for crimes such as rape, armed and house robberies, housebreaking and theft, human trafficking, pointing a firearm, fraud, illegal mining, possession of drugs, drunken driving, culpable homicide, shoplifting and contravention of a protection order.

Major General Anna Mateisi was satisfied with the arrests the West Rand police have made and went on to motivate police to continue working towards bringing to justice those who are responsible for committing crimes.
