Support for parents of Down Syndrome sufferers
There are schools available that cater for children with Down Syndrome.
As part of their community outreach, Rant-en-Dal School will be holding a support group meeting on 22 October for all parents of children with Down syndrome.
Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. This additional genetic material alters the course of development and causes the characteristics associated with Down syndrome.
Many parents are unaware that there are schools available for their children to attend, and the Rant-en-Dal School is one of them.
The support group will meet on 22 October from 10am to 11.30am.
