Police express annoyance with false cases
“Those who are found to give false information will be charged with perjury.”
Another perjury and fraud case has seen two suspects arrested only a month after the Krugersdorp Police expressed their dissatisfaction with false reporting of cases.
These suspects were arrested after reporting that the same vehicle had gone missing from two different addresses. Krugersdorp Police were investigating a case of hijacking when they discovered the complainant and the owner were claiming the vehicle had been stolen from their respective places of residence.
Police recovered the vehicle in a damaged state later that day. It is believed the vehicle was damaged in a collision. Further investigation of the claims is being conducted to establish the truth.
The suspects will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
Police suspect a false statement was made and perjury charges will be instituted.
In a previous statement by Krugersdorp Police, citizens were informed that precious resources were going to waste due to false cases being opened, and a stern warning was issued to people who open false cases.
“Those who are found to give false information will be charged with perjury,” said Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson.
