Local teacher finalist in countrywide competition
Franscina was one of 13 000 teachers nominated throughout the country.
A teacher from St Ansgar’s Combined School recently won a laptop, a R5 000 Woolworths gift card, and a weekend away for two after she was nominated for the Woolworths Educational Programme and was chosen as the Gauteng schools finalist.
Franscina Nzuzu, a Grade 9 creative arts teacher at the school was nominated by Elspeth Rasimphi, one of her pupils, after she helped the pupil overcome the effects of bullying and teasing.

Franscina was one of 13 000 teachers nominated throughout the country. The nominations were analysed by the judges and four finalists in each of the categories – high schools and primary schools – were chosen.
Franscina won the Gauteng high schools category and was awarded with gifts from Woolworths. Elspeth and her school also walked away with great prizes: a Woolworths gift card loaded with R5 000 each.
