What to do in rainy weather

Why not play the brand-new proudly South African Monopoly?

Over the past few weeks Gauteng (and the rest of South Africa) experienced some strange weather. Confusing and unpredictable outside temperatures and rain forecasts have led citizens to rather stay indoors than dare risk getting stuck in a hail storm. On the other hand, the country has also experienced heat waves.

What better way to spend an excruciatingly warm day than sitting in an air-conditioned room playing games that do not involve exercise or sunburn.

Being stuck inside the house is not fun either, except if you have a fun board game to enjoy with friends or family. Monopoly recently launched a truly local board game featuring proudly South African locations. The game, Monopoly Mzansi, has exiting South African attractions such as the Cradle of Humankind as a key location on the local board.

It is now possible for players to buy the entire Kruger National Park or build prestigious hotels on Cape Town’s coast.

Players can use the new transport hub – Sandton Gautrain Station – to let other players pay or they can pay entrance fees to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.

Locations such as Addo Elephant Park and the Drakensberg highlight South Africa’s natural and historical heritage.

“Monopoly Mzansi is a fantastic tourism product and an ideal keepsake as it proudly showcases the essence of South Africa and is a fair representation of all that South Africa has to offer to visitors across regions,” Belinda Cooper, spokesperson of Atmosphere Communications said.

South Africans are known for their gees and pride in their country, which is why we are extremely excited to present the final locations that made it on the board as they truly represent South Africa’s rich cultural diversity and natural beauty.”

Other locations on the board to be exited about:

• King Shaka International Airport

• The Big Hole, Kimberly

• Durban beach front (The Golden Mile), uShaka Marine World

• Drakensberg, The Oyster Box Hotel, Kruger National Park

• Cradle of Humankind, Gold Reef City, Union Buildings

• Nelson Mandela Square, 4th Avenue Parkhurst, Vilakazi Street Soweto

• Maboneng Precinct, St Francis Bay, Robben Island

• Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Boulders Beach

A billion people worldwide have had the joy of playing the game with their own unique locations on the board.
