Free rabies vaccination – act now
Failure to vaccinate your pet may result in a serious public health risk.
More cases of rabies have been confirmed in the Mogale City community; therefore the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be running a free rabies vaccination campaign between 14 and 16 November.
According to the Animal Diseases Act 35 of 1984, it is compulsory for all owners of dogs and cats over the age of three months to have them vaccinated against rabies. Failure to do so will result in a serious public health risk. It is also recommended that all dogs and cats over the age of three months that were not vaccinated in the last 30 days should be vaccinated immediately.
Owners may make use of their own private veterinarian or make use of the State. Veterinarians in the more rural areas of Mogale City Municipality (Muldersdrift, Oaktree, Lammermoor, Lanseria and Broederstroom on our Gauteng border with North West Province) have agreed to help owners by reducing their fee to only R50 during the month of November.
The programme will be running for the three days between 11am and 5pm as follows:
• 14 November: Khosa Sports Club, corner of Shannon and Frederick Cooper Streets, Noordheuwel
• 14 November: Open space opposite Munsieville Police Station, Mokgathe Street, Munsieville
• 15 November: Coronation Park, Krugersdorp
• 15 November: Open space opposite Thuto Lefa School, Mafaesa Street, Munsieville
• 16 November: Paul Kruger Hall, corner of Fleming and Windram Streets, Krugersdorp West
• 16 November: Informal Settlement opposite Bosasa Lindela
