Who said the disabled can’t?

This is a good opportunity to meet new people and to showcase all sorts of talent.

November is Disability Month and the Mogale City Local Municipality knows just how to keep the disabled community of Krugersdorp entertained with their annual eisteddfod.

Disability Month occurs annually between 3 November and 3 December, with 3 December being International Disability Day.

Mogale City implemented the campaign 10 years ago and this year’s event was held at Centenary City Hall on 17 November. The campaign caters for all people living with a disability.

“The event is held all over South Africa, and we invited more than 750 people who are living with disabilities to take part,” said the West Rand FM Disability Board presenter, Victoria Itumeleng.

This is a good opportunity to meet new people and to showcase all sorts of talent through an eisteddfod with choirs, drama, dancing and poetry.

All participants in the event are at the same level. The aim of the campaign is to highlight the participants’ disabilities and showcase what they are able to do.

The eisteddfod allows disabled people to enjoy themselves and laugh a bit – something they don’t often get the chance to do so.

The campaign organisers wish to involve more disabled people in next year’s function.
