High impact collision leaves two critical

Two critically injured patients were transported to nearby hospitals after being freed from the wreckage.

On Saturday, 17 December just before 10pm, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a call-out to a high impact collision on the R563 Hekpoort road.

On arrival, paramedics discovered numerous injured passengers, some of whom were still trapped in one of the vehicles.

Paramedics worked alongside Krugersdorp firefighters and other emergency service personnel and used the Jaws of Life to free the injured passengers from the wreckage.

Once free, paramedics used multiple methods to stabilise all patients on the scene. Two patients suffered critical injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.

The exact cause of the incident remains unknown and the police are still investigating.
