Municipal employees get their bonus
The parties agreed the employees would receive their three per cent clean audit bonuses during the weekend.
Employees of Mogale City Local Municipality were pleased with the outcome of a debate between their unions, Samwu and Imatu, and the Municipal Manager about the three per cent bonus they were allegedly promised earlier this year.

On Thursday, 15 December, employees from all departments went on a full service strike and demanded that the money they were allegedly supposed to receive on that morning should be paid into their bank accounts before they would return to work.
After multiple tyres were set on fire and entrances to Town Hall were blocked by protesters, the unions demanded that they speak with either the Municipal Manager or with the Executive Mayor himself to come to a resolution.
The parties stepped into the Municipal Manager’s chambers while protesters waited outside the chamber’s doors.
They sang songs such as “If it (the management) is sh#t, we’ll change it” and “Whatever comes our way, we will not be scared.” while awaiting a decision about their bonuses.
The chanting got rather heated as the employees waited for hours for the answer to their financial outcry.
The parties agreed the employees would receive their three per cent clean audit bonuses during the weekend starting from Friday, 16 December, with the last employees being paid on Monday, 19 December.
