Shelbe officially vying for the title

She will compete against 11 others to wear the prestigious Miss SA 2017 crown.

The Top 12 Miss South Africa 2017 finalists have been announced and Krugersdorp’s very own Shelbe Pretorius (23) has made the cut.

“We are absolutely delighted with the finalists. The young women who have been selected depict everything that we hope the pageant represents: intelligence, integrity and beauty,” said Sun International PR Manager, Claudia Henkel.

Shelbe is the owner of Flair Promotional Models and wants to be Miss South Africa because she believes she has all the qualities needed to be a phenomenal ambassador for South Africa.

She will compete against 11 others to wear the prestigious crown at the Sun City Superbowl on Sunday, 26 March, in an event which will be televised live and simulcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic.

“I never imagined making it to the Top 12, so you can guess that I am flooded with many different emotions. Most importantly, I am overwhelmed and excited for the journey ahead,” said Shelbe.

When the News asked Shelbe what she’s planning to do to win the title she said that she will just continue doing what she has always done by making a difference where she can and as far as her arms can reach.

“I wake up each day with the dream to inspire and bring about change with random acts of kindness and compassion but ultimately I do believe God’s plan is always the prevailing one, so I guess we’ll have to see what He has planned,” said Shelbe.

She lives by a quote from Maya Angelou: “My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and style”.
