Kagiso Police have opened a case of inquest after a 52-year-old man from Kagiso died after eating chicken on Tuesday, 7 February at about 7am.
It is believed the deceased worked as a construction site guard at a local secondary school. One of his colleagues, who was a witness in the case, said that an unknown man carrying a red and black bag arrived on site earlier that morning. The unknown man was looking for the deceased.
The man also had a container containing pieces of fried chicken, wrapped in a plastic bag, in his possession. The man left the plastic bag with the food on site and said the food was from the deceased’s son.
An hour after eating the chicken, the deceased started complaining about cramps and began vomiting. He was rushed to hospital because he was in a critical condition and was certified dead upon arrival at Leratong Hospital.
Kagiso police have launched an investigation into the matter and are appealing to anyone who knows the unknown man to call them on 011 696 9054/ 9095/ 9065/ 9068 as he might be able to assist the investigation.
