Two arrested for possession of stolen car
The accomplice failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the possession of the vehicle.
Two suspects, aged 31 and 34, were arrested after they were found in possession of a hijacked vehicle.
Members of the Kagiso Police Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off about a suspected stolen motor vehicle parked at a particular address in the area.

On Monday, 20 March at about 7pm, police members rushed to the scene and upon arrival found a vehicle without registration plates or a licence disc parked inside a yard. They also found the two suspects inside the vehicle. The police ordered them to get out of the vehicle and questioned them.
They also questioned the owner of the yard in which the vehicle was parked. One of the suspects who was in the car was the house-owner’s son. She said that her son had brought the vehicle home.

However, he informed the police that the vehicle belonged to his accomplice, who was standing next to him. The accomplice failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the possession of the vehicle.
Police conducted investigations that revealed that the vehicle had been reported as hijacked in the Krugersdorp area. They continued searching, and found the vehicle keys in one of the suspect’s pockets. They also found false registration plates in the vehicle.

The original registration plates were later found in the suspect’s room. Both suspects were arrested and detained at Kagiso Police station, where a case docket of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle was opened and the suspects were formally charged.
They have appeared briefly court and were remanded in custody for further police investigations.
