Motorcycle becomes death bed for driver at Key West intersection
The deceased biker was a 56-year-old man.
A man lost his life and another person was seriously injured in a collision at the intersection of Paardekraal Drive and Voortrekker Road yesterday, 16 May, at about 2pm.

A motorcyclist collided with a Kia, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle. Upon arrival, paramedics found a woman in the Kia and the motorcyclist lying in the Voortrekker Road slipway leading into Paardekraal Road on the left of the road.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the 56-year-old motorcyclist, but he was later declared dead on scene.

Patrollers from the Sector 3 and 4 Community Police Forums were on scene alongside members of the Krugersdorp Traffic Department to assist in regulating traffic.

A fireman from the West Rand Fire Department used sand from the sidewalk to cover the oil and petrol spillage from both vehicles on the road while police gathered the necessary information from eye-witnesses.

The intersection remained partially closed for about an hour while the necessary evidence was taken and the vehicles were removed from the road. Traffic was heavily backed up in both directions.

The cause of the collision is being investigated.
