A reminder about new licensing verification documentation

Failing to comply with these requirements might result in the applicant being unable to perform any transactions.

The Mogale City Licence Department has found that numerous applicants do not have the required documentation when they visit the department.

As a result, they have decided to inform the community about the documentation they will need when they visit the department.

The law states that the applicant should provide proof of his/ her address and a valid identity document for the following transactions to take place:

• Renewal of vehicle licence disc

• Renewal of driver’s licence

• Change of vehicle ownership

• Vehicle registration

Proof of postal and residential address can be provided by means of any utility, clothing, cellphone, or water and lights account not more than three months old, provided that if the applicant (resident) is not the person in whose name the utility account is issued, the person in whose name the utility account is issued makes an affidavit or affirmation declaring that the person resides at that address. The affidavit or affirmation must be accompanied by a utility account issued to such person.

In the case of a person who resides in an informal settlement, a letter with an official date stamp from the ward councillor confirming the postal and residential address of such person is required.

Failing to comply with these requirements might result in the applicant being unable to perform any transactions.
