New Leo Club to serve community
The Leo Club consists of teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18. It was chartered with 22 teenagers, all from St Ursula's School.
On Friday, 9 June the Krugersdorp Lions Club welcomed the first 22 members from St Ursula’s School to their first-ever Leo Club.
This induction was held at St Ursula’s Catholic School where the new Leo’s made a pledge to always help those in need for the betterment of the community and country.

“This is the first time that we’ve had a Leo Club within the Krugersdorp Lions Club and we are very excited to induct a new generation of service-orientated members,” said Ivan du Plooy, Krugersdorp Lions President.
The Krugersdorp Lions Club was chartered in 1962 and has been a part of the Krugersdorp community for 55 years. The Leo Club, however, consists of teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18. So far they are all from St Ursula’s School, with 12 prospective members who are looking to join the club already.
“We aim to work with smaller charities in our community. We are looking forward to working as a team and helping where we can,” Kiara Bendeman, Leo Club President and St Ursula’s School learner said.

According to Nicholas da Silva, Leo Club Facilitator and member of the Krugersdorp Lions Club, it’s quite special how St Ursula’s School and Lions Club International have very similar mottos – Serviam (to serve) and We Serve, respectively. He also mentioned that this is the start of great things to come.
