Beloved pastor passes away
On 19 June, Riaan left his earthly home in exchange for his heavenly crown at the age of only 33.
It is with great sadness that the Lighthouse Church announces the death of their beloved Senior Elder and Pastor, Riaan Smit.
On 19 June, Riaan left his earthly home in exchange for his heavenly crown at the age of only 33.
According to the family spokesperson, Santie van Tonder, he was ill in bed at Robinson Life Hospital in Randfontein for the past seven weeks.

He suffered from various ailments that led to his death. It started with diarrhoea, then his appendix had to be removed. Shortly after the operation he was diagnosed with a deadly virus, which was followed by kidney failure and then the removal of his colon.
He was then transferred to the Arwyp Medical Centre in Kempton Park, as Robinson Life Hospital had done everything they could to help him. His heart eventually stopped beating at the centre in Kempton Park.
Riaan leaves behind his wife Chantelle, as well as their two daughters Alyssa and Jessica, among many other family members and friends.
His Celebration of Life service’s details are as follows: 11am on Thursday, 22 June at the Prisma Kerk (NG Kerk Rant-en-Dal), corner of Swallow and Eagle Streets, Rant-en-Dal.
