Shortly after the collision, emergency services arrived on scene.

ER24 paramedics stabilised the patient who was trapped in the Picanto before firemen freed him from the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. Traffic in both directions piled up as one lane on each side was closed off as the vehicles involved obstructed the other lanes.
Members of the Sector 3 Community Policing Forum were on scene to help regulate the traffic and firemen used sand from the islands to cover up liquids spilled on the road surface.
Both the patients’ families were on scene, and a fight broke out between some of them, but the situation was quickly brought under control by officials on scene.
The cause of the collision is subject to police investigation, and the cause of the fight is not yet known.
