This is why there were ambulances on Tom Muller Street this morning
The local fire department blocked the offramp from the R28 towards Randfontein for a medical helicopter to land.
A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was knocked down by a vehicle near Tom Muller Street in West Village at around 7am this morning, 29 June.
Emergency service personnel arrived on scene to assist the injured woman and found her lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle that allegedly had hit her was found parked 20 metres away.

Various other paramedic services were on scene as well as West Rand Fire Department personnel, who blocked off the scene to oncoming traffic until about 8.30am.
The woman had extensive injuries to her head, legs and hip and her condition was deemed critical.
She was loaded into the ER24 emergency medical helicopter and taken to hospital for urgent medical attention.
The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
