Top 5 for pageant mom

Zanté has been chosen to participate in the crowning event of the Ms Plus Size South African National Pageant.

Local mother of three boys, Zanté Bines, is taking the pageant world by storm as she entered the most recent Ms Plus Size South African National Pageant and has subsequently qualified as one of the five finalists.

After various elimination rounds that took place from September last year, Zanté received the good news about five months ago that she had been chosen to participate in the pageant’s crowning event that will take place in November in Midrand.

According to Zanté, the process is similar to that of the Miss SA pageant, the only difference being that they don’t partake in a swimwear competition.

“We also have to engage in charity projects, host golf days and attend team-buildings and workshops,” she said.

She describes herself as the typical next door mommy who doesn’t necessarily like the spotlight, as she is more of a ‘behind the scenes type of person’, with a great love for people and children.

That’s why she decided to approach mostly child-orientated charity projects. Her most recent project involved reaching out to the children of Appelpark in Burgershoop.

“I have this passion for the children of Krugersdorp especially. There is so much hunger and pain, that’s why my church – Wesrand Herlewing Sentrum – and I decided to host a ‘fun day’ for them. The feeling you get from helping them really is indescribable,” she said.

She is now in the process of approaching local orphanages in hopes of starting a project which will ensure that they have all the basic toiletries they need.

“Most of us don’t know what it feels like to be without basic toiletries like toilet paper and toothpaste. We want to make sure they have everything they need to function properly. I am looking forward to help in shaping the future of our country,” Zanté concluded.
