The 9th Day Animal Shelter, a rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming centre has been struck by three waves of terrible misfortune over the last few months.
First, they received a notice that they have to vacate the property they are currently using by the end of 2017.
Then on Wednesday, 12 July, Charmaine Booysens, the owner of the shelter, was involved in a serious car accident in which her bakkie was written off.

More recently, they realised that they’re running at a loss, because of the closing of the Krugersdorp SPCA and the strain this has put on the shelter. The shelter is running at full capacity and they’re currently taking care of more than 150 animals.

And this does not even take into account the monthly costs of about R79 000 that the charity still needs to carry on its operations.
But, there’s still hope – the shelter will be hosting is first annual golf day to raise funds for the organisation, on Friday, 8 September at the Krugersdorp Golf Club. It will be played as a Better ball Stableford tournament.
Community members can buy a four-ball to aid the helpless animals. Businesses can also look forward to sponsorship opportunities such as funding a hole or sponsoring a prize.
Charmaine and her staff would appreciate any form of assistance, be it advertising, donations or sponsorships, that could possibly assist them to raise the funds needed to keep The 9th Day’s doors open.
