Learners at Lodirile Secondary School were overjoyed when a brand new science laboratory was handed over to them by Conlog and the West Rand District Executive Mayor, Alderman Boyce Maneli.
For the school, Tuesday, 1 August was a day of hope, excitement and the promise of a better future.
Conlog is an electric metering company which is based in KwaZulu-Natal. The laboratory was sponsored as part of their Community Social Investment (CSI) projects for 2017. The company selected the West Rand to be one of the beneficiaries of their CSI projects, and aims to assist various other schools in the West Rand according to their needs analysis.
The new science laboratory is Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) approved, includes all apparatus, educator and learner units, furniture and skeleton models, among many other things.

The national CAPS is a single, comprehensive and concise policy document which will replace the current Subject and Learning Area Statements, Learning Programme Guidelines and Subject Assessment Guidelines for all the subjects listed in the National Curriculum Statement Grades R–12.
Each science educator will get two full days’ training on how to effectively use the lab to benefit the learners.
Lodirile Secondary School would like to thank everyone who has made this new learning adventure possible for them as it will greatly influence their learning ability.
The school expressed its gratitude in numerous ways, including a resounding choir performance, followed by a beautiful melody from the entire school, among other things.
