Care centre shows support to women by donating bras

"There are so many women in our town who also want beautiful underwear, but don't necessarily have the money for it."

The Mug and Tree Community Care Centre recently hosted an event to ‘support’ female members of the public who needed some love and guidance … and underwear.

Trudie Naudé, founder of centre and the councillor for Ward 38, organised the event with her ward committee as part of the celebration of women.

The Ward 38 committee decorated the Mug and Tree centre with bras in a very creative manner.

“There are so many women in our town who also want beautiful underwear, but don’t necessarily have the money for it,” said Trudie.

More than 110 women, 60 of whom did not have brassieres, attended the event and Trudie believes these women truly needed the help of the committee.

“It was a privileged to help these women, not only to give them the beautiful underwear they need, but also to inspire them.”

The women were not only given bras – cancer scans were also done by nurses from a mobile clinic.

Other important figures in the community, such as Mrs Africa Adelle Weatherspoon and councillor Jacqui Pannell also inspired women with their great spirit and encouraging words.
