Honeyfield’s bees ready for Spring

According to Ann Bezuidenhout, principal of the pre-school, it is their first year to celebrate the arrival of Spring.

On Friday, 1 September, each flower on the face of our side of the earth welcomed spring with wide-spread blossoms. And the bees of course, did nothing less when they rejoiced in the pollen each flower had to offer.

On this day the busy bees from Honeyfield Charity’s pre-school were also to be seen out and about, basking in the warm sun of the new season.

According to Ann Bezuidenhout, principal of the pre-school, this was the first time they celebrated the arrival of Spring by hosting a fun picnic day for the 30 underprivileged children of West Village and surrounding areas.

These buzzing bees between the ages of three months and five years participated in various fun activities such as sack jumping and powder-paint ‘fights’ among many other things, and had a whale of a time while doing so.

They also enjoyed sweets, food and lucky packets as well as cake, cupcakes and koeksusters. The park was filled with colourful faces paired with cheerful laughter.

“I had a great time with these children, and I trust they enjoyed themselves just as much. Many of them are from local squatter camps and I’m just glad we were able to give them a special day such as this,” Ann concluded.
