Dream Africa concert gloried by fans

Famous actor, Leroy Gopal, who directed the programme on the night, kept the audience giggling on their seats with his funny appearances before introducing the acts. He literally left everyone in stitches.

Parents and others who were in the audience during Agape Christian School’s musical concert on 21 October are still in awe of the standard of entertainment the learners produced.

The concert, which the school hosts every two years, drew a packed audience to the Allen Glen High School Hall, where the event was held.

The theme was Dream Africa, which was inspired by the beauty and diversity of South Africa. The amazing performances, ranging from traditional to contemporary, included the famous Waka Waka – the official 2010 FIFA World Cup song and dance – and many others. The lighting and props perfectly complemented the theme.

The show was temporarily interrupted when a storm caused the power to go off in the area. However, this did not mean the end of the concert.

“Although the lights went out halfway in the second show, it did not stop us.Members of the audience shone their cellphone lights towards the stage and by using a laptop the show went on,” said Theresa Jennings from the school.

Famous actor, Leroy Gopal, who was the programme director during the event, kept the audience giggling with his antics before introducing the acts. He left everyone in stitches.

Theresa also reflected on the success of the event, saying, “The concert was a great success. We had very positive feedback and praises from family and friends, who said it was our best concert ever,”
