Children, crafts and good hearts

On Saturday, 28 October, this arts and crafts shop decided to dedicate their 14th birthday bash to roughly 15 underprivileged children.

On Saturday, 28 October, a local arts and crafts shop, Creative Talents Arts and Crafts from the Anthos Shopping Centre in Monument, dedicated its 14th birthday bash to roughly 15 underprivileged children from Mug and Tree – a community centre that serves the underprivileged communities in Krugersdorp.

The children were overjoyed when they received some three dimensional wooden shapes, paint and other goodies in order to complete their final decorative project.

To help them through their creative journey, the shop’s staff made sure to guide them all the way.

With laughter and paint flying through the air, Cristel Horn, one of the guides explained that this was all made possible by their clients, as well as a few other shops on the block.

“Quite a few clients and shops opened their hearts by volunteering to sponsor a child for the day. That’s why we are so exceptionally thankful for the community’s assistance,” she said.

With the help of the rest of the shopping centre, they managed to spoil the children with some popcorn, lunch, cool drink and sweets, among many other things.

While the children were letting their creative juices flow, ward councillor, Trudie Naudé and Estelle Opperman from Mug and Tree expressed their gratitude to everyone who made the day possible.

“We would like to thank every single client, and every single shop for making this an unforgettable day for these children,” Anita Oosthuizen, manager of the shop said.

At the end of the day, every child walked away with a full tummy, a smiling face, and a beautiful piece of art.
