Business growth session to empower entrepreneurs
Aspirant entrepreneurs have a chance to learn about how to start and run their business.
The Awethu Project is holding training sessions in various communities such as Kagiso to assist budding entrepreneurs to start up, run and build their businesses.
The opportunity to learn how to start and grow a business through business growth sessions will be available in 15 informal areas in Gauteng. The Awethu Project began its successful Johannesburg CBD session early this year, after which its directors decided to take the next business growth sessions directly to local communities.

CEO and co-founder of the Awethu Project, Yusuf Randera-Rees said being involved in one of these sessions means that the sky is the limit for anyone with a great idea and a big dream. Yusuf added that the project is passionate about getting essential training tools into the hands of aspiring entrepreneurs who would not otherwise have had access to this level of support.
Morena Mosia and Tumani Mabogoane are two entrepreneurs who started their own furniture and upholstery business three months ago. The new business partners were excited to discover the Awethu Project and started attending the Awethu Project Incubator sessions in October.
“It’s already made a difference, we have implemented a few tactics and have started taking ourselves more seriously as a business, and we’re seeing results,” said Morena.
Morena added that even though they have only had a few sessions, the incubator has reassured them that they are on the right path. He explained that the incubator has taught them to ‘know their value’ and stand for the price they put behind their products. Part of that process was obtaining clarity about their target market, being more specific in their pricing and finding additional income streams to ensure a constant cashflow through their business.

“These two-hour business training sessions are offered to anyone who has a business idea that needs a kick-start or someone who simply needs sound business advice from a team of professionals. Plus, a bit of inspiration is thrown in for good measure too,” said Yusuf.
Established in 2009, the Awethu Project has incubated thousands of entrepreneurs and has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the country.
“Not everybody knows us, but the 100 000 budding entrepreneurs who have interacted with us over the past eight years do. Over three thousand of them have been through our incubation process, and of them, 2 600 are successfully running their own businesses today,” said Yusuf.
