Mogale Mayor exceptionally proud of 2017 matrics

“We have analysed the results and we, as a City, are seriously lost for words to describe our joy."

The Executive Mayor of Mogale City, Patrick Naga Lipudi congratulated the matric Class of 2017 for making the City and the region proud with their exceptional performance during their final examinations.

“We have analysed the results and we, as a City, are seriously lost for words to describe our joy. The learners have rewarded their parents, educators and all those who supported them with determination, hard work and exceptional results,” said Lipudi.

“We are very proud of them and wish them all the best with their careers going forward.”

On the West Rand, three of the five schools that produced 100 per cent pass rates are from Mogale City. The West Rand region’s matric results are among the top six in the country, and among the top 10 in terms of performance nationally, with only two schools registering passes below 60 per cent.

The people of Mogale City have all the reason to celebrate with their children because their hard work and dedication throughout 2017 have paid off handsomely.

“We wish to make a special appeal to all those learners who have not passed the grade, to give it another try because this is not the end of the world. We encourage parents, relatives, friends and all of us as a community to stand behind those who have not made it, to help them in their next effort so that we can all gain from their achievements. Those who have not succeeded must remember the words of Nelson Mandela who said that people should not judge him by his successes, but by the many times he fell down and got back up,” said the Executive Mayor. “Their perseverance will finally be rewarded when they take a second shot at getting their matric certificate.”

The municipality is ready to award bursaries to those who have succeeded and have been accepted at public tertiary institutions.

“The people of Mogale City will remember that there were no mayoral bursaries at the beginning of 2017, so we are reviving that programme of assisting young people at the point of entry to tertiary level education to settle in their new life. We wish that we had no limitation of funds to help all of those who apply for the Mayoral Bursary Scheme but we can only help within the constraints of available resources,” said Lipudi.
