Local schools excel at prestigious awards

This ceremony serves as one of the highlights of the educational calendar.

Learners from all over the West Rand gathered at Pro-Practicum School on Friday, 26 January, for the annual prestige Sport, Youth and Culture and Values Awards Ceremony.

This ceremony serves to recognise, acknowledge and reward outstanding performances by local learners, educators, coaches and administrators in the field of both school sport and culture codes and extra curriculum codes.

According to the West Rand Manager of Educational Support Services, Denton Viljoen, this ceremony serves as one of the highlights of the educational calendar to which over 200 guests from roughly 180 primary and secondary, special and farm schools were invited.

“We invited a great many top achievers who made their mark on regional, provincial, national and some even international level. And for the first time, we even had some culture categories included as well. Our aim is to reward those who expand the constitutional values of the country,” he said.
