Rock stars to live happily ever after
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who are the rock stars standing tall?
“Once upon a time, there was a little girl with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood and hair as black as ebony”. Even though most people are familiar with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Saint Ursula’s Catholic School recently reproduced this timeless tale with a humorous twist.

The story was told on the night of Friday, 26 January when friends, family and educators took their seats to watch the Rock Star themed Grade 8 Newbie Concert. The newbies succeeded, not only in making making their audience chuckle, but making them laugh out loud until their tummies hurt.
After getting to know the seven dwarfs, getting rid of the evil queen and discovering who’s the fairest of them all, St Ursula’s continued with the induction of their new Grade 8s. After deputy principal, Chantel Basson said a few words, each rock star was individually welcomed with a school blazer, whereafter they sang the school song.
But, the night wasn’t over yet as all the learners were invited to the outdoor braai area with their friends and families. There they all celebrated the start of their high school career with some well deserved braaied meat, an explosive night colour run and some good company.
“This group is different. We are excited for the years ahead and trust that these learners will grow to their full potential.
We really had such a blast watching them on stage. They’ve really outdone themselves,” Chantel concluded.
St Ursula’s trusts that these learners will spend their high school careers ‘happily ever after’.
