What to expect when expecting

Whether it was the result of the event, or the unborn baby, it is safe to say that each mom got a kick out of the day's proceedings.

Recently, Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital called upon all soon-to-be mommies and daddies to learn as much as possible about their unborn baby’s future needs in celebration of Pregnancy Awareness Month.

On Thursday, 22 February a total of 17 mothers-to-be gathered at the hospital for a morning of interesting exhibits, informative talks, great giveaways and some delicious refreshments for those demanding cravings.

During the event, several experts talked about the importance of various vaccines, immunisation, ante-natal information, breastfeeding, 4D scans and everything they should be on the look out for regarding their baby’s health.

The mothers were also presented with an informative Q and A session as well as pregnancy goody bags and other prizes. These giveaways included various creams, tissue oil and other essentials.

According to spokesperson Liesl-Mari Simon, this is an annual event presented by the hospital and other stakeholders for all interested pregnant women – no matter how early or far their stage of pregnancy.

“We really try to equip them with as much knowledge as possible. We were honoured to have met these mothers, and we trust that they will apply everything they’ve learned to their bundles of joy,” she said.
