Replacing stolen cables in Noordheuwel top priority for service provider

Over 70 customers connected to the internet through the local street distribution cabinets have been inconvenienced by the outage.

Telecommunication service provider Openserve is experiencing a disruption of its services in the Noordheuwel area.

Investigations revealed that its cables had been cut and stolen, which has a major effect on its clients in the surrounding communities.

“Businesses, ATMs and residents in Noordheuwel are affected by this outage,” Caryl Kolk, Account Director for Edelman South Africa said in a statement to the News.

Over 70 customers connected to the internet through the local street distribution cabinets have been inconvenienced by the outage.

“Openserve would like to ensure the affected communities and businesses that it has prioritised the replacement of these stolen or damaged cables.

The theft and damage have been reported to the police and all relevant call centres are aware of the issue.”
