Police arrest store owners for possession of a gun
An employee complained to the police that his employer had pointed a firearm at him earlier.
Two men, aged 25 and 26, who own a grocery shop in Tshepisong, were arrested on Friday, 23 March by Kagiso Crime Prevention members after they allegedly tried to hide an unlicensed firearm from the police.
The team was patrolling the area when an unknown person approached them.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson, said the informant told them his employer had pointed a firearm at him.
“Police then proceeded to the suspect’s business. There they found two unknown males. One of them confirmed that the complainant was his employee in the shop.
“When asked if any of them owned a firearm, they emphatically denied the idea. Police then conducted a search in the suspects’ shop and found a fully loaded firearm. The two suspects continued denying any knowledge of the firearm. They were then arrested and detained at Kagiso Police Station.”
A case docket of possession of an unlicensed firearm was opened at the station and the suspects were formally charged. They appeared briefly in court and have been remanded in custody for further investigation.
