The suspects were allegedly part of a syndicate that followed victims from various ATMs and then robbed them.
Police have confirmed that the five suspects they arrested in the President Square parking lot yesterday, 10 April, did not attempt to rob any store within the facility.
According to local police, the five were chased from Alberton because they were suspected of murdering someone in that area.

Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police Station, said the suspects were following numerous victims to their banks and then robbing them. Most of these crimes happened in Gauteng.
“They’re suspected to be the gang who robbed a victim earlier in March. They followed him after he withdrew money from a bank.
They shot and killed the 82-year-old man at his house and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money,” said Mashele.
The task team recovered two vehicles that were used in the commission of the crime, but investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
