Man gets caught with his fingers in the till – twice

The man arranged to pay back the money he stole, in instalments, but decided to steal again.

Hekpoort Police have arrested a man for stealing from the restaurant he was working at.

The man allegedly took money from the cash register before he cashed up on 14 January. The man, aged 36, was arrested on Monday, 23 April.

Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson for the Hekpoort Police Station, said when the man was confronted about it, he confessed and allegedly made arrangements to pay the employer back in instalments.

“Two instalments were allegedly paid and then the suspect again took cash from the cash register and left. This time he never came back to work,” said Constable Maswanganye.

A case of theft was opened and detective Constable Nhlapo was assigned to investigate.

The man was arrested and detained at Krugersdorp Police Station and will appear in court soon.
